Who are we? Do we identify as salesmen, soldiers, nurses, mothers, fathers, accountants, or teachers? And what is our purpose here on earth?

Many Christians would say we are here to bring the lost into a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and to exhibit His love and forgiveness in a fallen world. That is a great part of what we are called to do. But it still begs the question, who are we?

Are we just our careers or ministries? The Bible talks about our identities being in Christ. But what does that look like as we live out our day-to-day lives with its ups, downs, victories, and challenges? Do we identify more with our sins, errors, shortcomings, and mistakes than with being in Christ?

I remember telling Bible School classes through the years that most ministers have nothing to say, which I still hold to today. They do not know Church history (other than their particular denominations), world history, or their Bibles. They are merely parroting what they have heard someone else say, or what someone else has written.
